Latrobe, Pennsylvania-based specialty steel manufacturer Latrobe Specialty Steel Thursday plans to increase prices by 5-to-15 percent on all high speed and tool steels, CPM powder products sold through Latrobe Distribution, air melt stainless steels, re-melted allows and nickel-based superalloys. The price increase is effective immediately with all new inquiries and all new orders received beginning February 14, 2011, and raw material surcharges will remain in effect.

The increase was attributed to recover the increasing operation costs Latrobe is experiencing due to increased demand, and well as allow the company to accelerate upgrades to existing equipment to ensure short-lead times to customers.
