Turkish merchant bar export prices increase further

Turkish merchant bar prices to the export markets have increased by $25/mt over the past two weeks amid the upward movement of import scrap quotations since the beginning of February and also due to the acceleration of purchases led by buyers’ expectations of a further rise in Turkish merchant bar prices.

Market sources state that demand for Turkish merchant bar in the export markets was better last week and has since slowed down slightly. On the other hand, it is observed that, with the support of the ongoing uptrend of import scrap quotations, Turkish merchant bar producers may raise their export offers further in the coming period.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

470-480

IPN-UPN

480-490

Flat bar

500-510

IPE

All prices are on FOB basis and for February shipment.
