Turkey loses upper hand in export markets due to ex-China wire rod

Friday, 26 April 2013 15:40:32 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Turkish wire rod export offers have declined by $5/mt since last week to $590-595/mt FOB, after ex-Turkey rebar prices moved down to levels of $580-590/mt FOB.

Meanwhile, with their wire rod export offers at $545/mt, Chinese market players have been concluding deals in the West African markets, and this situation has caused Turkey to lose its upper hand in the region. If Chinese wire rod export offers continue to remain at such a low level, it seems very difficult for Turkish wire rod to register a recovery in the export markets.
