SDI surprises US rebar market with $20/nt increase

Steel Dynamics, Inc. sent a letter to customers late Thursday announcing rebar price increase of $20/nt ($1.00 cwt. or $22/mt), effective with all new orders as of Friday, August 15.

Orders on the books prior to August 15 will be prices protected if shipped by September 14, according to the letter.

As of press time, no other mills have responded with a price announcement of their own.
