According to market sources, ex-CIS billet offers have increased by $5/mt on the upper end and are now in the range of $510-520/mt FOB. Russian billet suppliers have gained an advantage in the export markets due to tight supply from the CIS region with Ukrainian steel producer Metinvest deciding not to accept new orders and experiencing problems with shipments of previously received orders.

In the current week, an ex-Russia deal for 10,000 mt of billet has been concluded to Egypt at $530-535/mt, while market sources report that Russian billet suppliers are maintaining a firm stance on their prices.

On the other hand, ex-CIS billet offers to Turkey are in the range of $525-535/mt, but no new transactions have been heard at the price levels in question.
