Rebar prices in local Turkish market

Thursday, 19 April 2007 15:35:54 (GMT+3)   |

Traders experienced huge panic at the beginning of the week. It was possible to find prices at TRY 925-930/mt, including 18 percent VAT, from traders in Ege and Iskenderun due to the softening in the US dollar exchange rate. However, there has been a slight movement, especially in Iskenderun, as of today. Rolling mills in Iskenderun are not interested in giving prices below TRY 950/mt, including 18 percent VAT. The slight rise in the US dollar exchange rate is also reinforcing the producers.

The new prices are at the following levels:

Marmara Region:

12 mm

around $605/mt

Payas area:

Small dia.

TRY 960/mt ($689/mt)

Large dia.

TRY 950/mt ($682/mt)

Izmir area:

8 mm

TRY 950/mt ($682/mt)

10 mm

TRY 960/mt ($689/mt)

12 mm

TRY 970/mt ($697/mt)

All TRY prices include 18 percent VAT and are ex-works.

USD equivalents exclude VAT

1 USD = 1.3489 TRY
