The Italian mills are offering medium size rebars to the local market at the price level of around €535-545/mt ($778-793/mt) ex-works, with two to three month open account, excluding VAT.
Rebar base prices, which have this week increased by €10/mt ($14.5/mt), are at €320-330/mt ($466-480/mt). It would still be difficult to say that end-user demand is at a good level. However, the order books of the Italian producers seem fairly full due to the fact that there has been no import competition for a long time, and the sales levels of the same producers have been at relatively good levels.
Meanwhile, the Italian mills are offering rebars to the export market at €525-530/mt ($764-771/mt) FOB for late March/early April shipments. It has been heard the latest deals in the Italian rebar export market are at the price level €520/mt ($757/mt) FOB. It would not be entirely correct to say that there are plenty of offers in the market in question. It is reported that most producers will be very busy until late March.
