SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers' price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

460-470

Thrace

460-475

Izmir

455-500

Iskenderun

445-450

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, wire rod demand in the local Turkish market has continued at medium levels in the current week. Accordingly, Turkish producers have been unwilling to cut their prices and have instead maintained their firm stance on their sales quotations. Also, planned overhauls by some Turkish steel producers in the summer season are expected to affect supplies in the wire rod market and thereby provide support for producers' wire rod prices. Meanwhile, a Turkish steel producer in the Iskenderun region last week decided to focus on production of wire rod instead of rebar, according to market players.
