SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

546-557

Thrace

546-557

Izmir

546-554

Iskenderun

525-540

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, wire rod prices in the local Turkish market have been in the range of $525-557/mt ex-works over the past week. Turkish wire rod producers are worried about the oversupply issue in the Turkish market caused by the stocks of Chinese wire rod which have increased significantly due  to deals concluded before the new import duty rate was introduced for ex-China products. Some Turkish wire rod traders prefer to focus on the export market instead of on the domestic market in order to accelerate their sales and move their stocks. On the other hand, buyers in the local Turkish market have started to seek significant discounts before concluding any new deals and so transaction activity in the local Turkish market has been slack.
