In a letter to customers late Friday, Nucor announced that it will increase published prices for merchant bar products by $1.50 cwt. ($30/nt or $33/mt), effective with new orders as of Monday, Dec. 5.
The move follows Gerdau’s announcement the day before that it will delay the $2.50 cwt. ($50/nt or $55/mt) merchant bar price increase announced in late November.
As of press time, other mills have not followed Nucor’s increase, but if they do as expected, market-wide published prices will be as follows:
