Nucor lowers longs prices by $30/nt, effective immediately

Nucor Bar Mill Group announced to customers late Tuesday that effective with shipments from August 13, 2008, the company's raw materials surcharge (RMS) applicable to rebar, merchant bar and structural products will decrease by $59/nt ($65/mt or $2.95 cwt.), while base prices for these products will increase by $29/nt ($32/mt or $1.45 cwt.).

The net result of these changes is a decrease of $30/nt ($33/mt or $1.50 cwt.) for rebar, merchant bar and structural product transaction prices compared to August 1 pricing.

Nucor's new RMS for these products effective August 13 is $384/nt ($423/mt or $19.20 cwt.).
