Nucor Steel- Texas announced Monday that effective with shipments October 1, 2011, the Raw Materials Surcharge (RMS) applicable to concrete reinforcing bars, merchant bars and structural products will continue to be $288/nt ($14.40 cwt. or $317/mt) for the fourth consecutive month.
The company will increase their base price on reinforcing bars by $20/nt ($1.00 cwt or $22/mt). The net effect of this move is that transaction pricing for reinforcing bars will increase $20/nt ($1.00 cwt. or $22/nt). Additionally, effective Monday, transaction pricing for all new orders of 20-foot lengths of reinforcing bar will increase $30/nt ($1.50 cwt. or $33/mt). All reinforcing bar orders "currently on the books" and shipped prior to October 1 will be price protected.
Transaction pricing for merchant bars and structural products will remain neutral.
