The price of domestic Mexican wire rod fell US$40/mt-ex mill during the last four weeks, to reach $512/mt ex-mill.

Sources tell SteelOrbis that domestic demand for construction has not increased lately, but the exchange behavior is leading to inflation that has already been seen in some sectors.

And even though housing prices in Mexico have registered an increase of 6.38 percent during the first seven months of the year, the trend is not enough to lift prices in the long steel market.
