Mexican wire rod prices see minor improvement

The price of domestic Mexican wire rod increased a mere US$1/mt exmill during the last month, to reach $699/mt ex-mill.

A favorable trend in the price of wire rod is on the horizon, according to sources, as various measures on tax and financing matters are expected to boost housing development. The investments announced by the federal government, will benefit more than 6 million Mexicans and nearly 500,000 homes will be built.

Between 2013 and 2014, the financial sector increased funding flow, housing subsidies and co-financing schemes, loans to state and municipal workers, access to a second mortgages, and financing for rental housing.
