The price of domestic Mexican wire rod increased US$1/mt during the last three weeks to reach $648/mt ex-mill.

The difficult situation presented to local wire rod producers is reflected not only in prices but the decisions to keep certain operation in the factories.

Deacero, the leading Mexican producer of wire rod, has drawn in recent months anti-dumping lawsuits against its main market, the US, but also suffers from increasing imports into the Mexican market, whose monthly level has grown 383 percent on average.
