Merchant bar prices in the local Turkish market have been continuing their downtrend. It seems that the price gap between the various regions has expanded a bit. Producers have been experiencing difficulties in determining price levels. It is possible to find different price levels even within the same region. It is reported that the deterioration of the $/TRY exchange rate is one of the reasons behind the price decline. The merchant bar prices in this market, depending on size, thickness and region, are at the following levels: small IPN-UPN are priced at TRY 1,380-1,410/mt ($1,198-1,224/mt), 80-100-120 mm IPE are at TRY 1,360-1,460/mt ($1,180-1,267/mt), angles stand at TRY 1,300-1,400/mt ($1,127-1,214/mt), and flat bars and square bars are at TRY 1,310-1,410/mt ($1,136-1,223/mt) - all prices are ex-works, on actual weight basis and excluding VAT.
