The local Turkish merchant bar producers are maintaining their price levels in line with the strong performance of the billet market.
With the billet price level of $1,150/mt being pushed these days, the merchant bar prices in the local Turkish market as of Wednesday, May 7, depending on size, thickness and region, are at the following levels: small IPN-UPN are priced at TRY 1,480-1,530/mt ($1,177-1,216/mt), 100-120 mm IPE are at TRY 1,540-1,575/mt ($1,224-1,252/mt), angles stand at TRY 1,480-1,515/mt ($1,177-1,204/mt), and flat bars and square bars are at TRY 1,500-1,530/mt ($1,192-1,216/mt) - all prices are ex-works, on actual weight basis and excluding VAT. The prices also may differ in the sales price levels of traders (with previously-taken positions) which are lower than the mills' levels, and also depending on ups and downs in the exchange rates of the Turkish lira and other currencies.
