Demand in the local Turkish rebar market has remained weak since July 21, while domestic rebar prices in Turkey's Marmara, Karabuk and Iskenderun regions have moved down in the same period, though in Izmir rebar prices have remained stable.
Buyers are still postponing their rebar purchases amid the ongoing political tension in Turkey after the coup attempt on July 15. Market sources state that economic indicators in Turkey are currently showing slight fluctuations due to the continuing political situation. As a result, buyers are unwilling to conclude new rebar purchases before the economic outlook becomes more stable.
Meanwhile, due to currency fluctuations prices in the local Turkish rebar market have mostly increased by $1-7/mt on US dollar basis compared to price levels on July 21.
