Local Turkish merchant bar prices move up

Turkish merchant bar producers have revised their list prices upwards compared to their price levels two weeks ago, as their production costs have increased as a result of the rises seen in domestic and import billet quotations and due to the upward trend of import scrap prices since the beginning of February.
 
Additionally, buyers who had for some time been maintaining a cautious stance as regards new merchant bar purchases have accepted higher merchant bar quotations over the past two weeks and have accelerated their bookings. Accordingly, demand in the local Turkish merchant bar market has improved slightly and transaction activity has revived somewhat.
 
Domestic merchant bar prices in the Turkish market depending on size, thickness and region are at the following levels:
