Trading activity is more stable in the Turkish domestic merchant bar market compared to the local markets for other long products, with demand at medium levels, even though expectations of downward movement in import scrap prices in Turkey have prompted many local buyers of finished steel to wait before concluding deals.

Meanwhile, in the local Turkish market merchant bar prices depending on size, thickness and region are at the following levels: small IPN-UPN are priced at TRY 1,120-1,300/mt ($431-500/mt), angles are at TRY 1,120-1,300/mt ($431-500/mt), while flat bars are at TRY 1,160-1,340/mt ($446-515/mt). All prices are ex-works, on actual weight basis and excluding VAT.
