As the Turkish domestic steel market is suffering from the uncertainty surrounding import scrap prices these days, the Turkish merchant bar market has been likewise affected. While prices in the local Turkish market are commonly expected to increase due to increasing import scrap offers, buyers are trying to keep a close eye on import scrap prices and also on the import billet market. On the other hand, demand for merchant bar in the Turkish market is currently at medium levels.

Meanwhile, in the local Turkish market merchant bar prices depending on size, thickness and region are at the following levels: small IPN-UPN are priced at TRY 1,140-1,260/mt ($454-502/mt), angles are at TRY 1,140-1,260/mt ($454-502/mt), while flat bars are at TRY 1,180-1,300/mt ($470-518/mt). All prices are ex-works, on actual weight basis and excluding VAT.
