SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

621-625

Thrace

623-627

Izmir

613-617

Iskenderun

600-605

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

SteelOrbis has been informed that rebar prices in the local Turkish market are at TRY 1,530-1,600/mt ($598-625/mt) ex-works, excluding VAT. In the previous weeks, the Turkish lira had weakened against the US dollar, causing some local mills to revise their wire rod prices upward on TRY basis. Today, August 21, the Turkish lira has weakened to 2.18 against the US dollar and some Turkish producers have increased their prices again. Market sources state that if the Turkish lira continues to weaken, new price revisions are expected.

On the other hand, Turkish wire rod producers are focusing on the export markets amid stronger demand for Turkish wire rod, especially in the US market, and more profitable sales compared to the domestic market. This causes occasional tightness on the supply side in the local Turkish market.
