Since locally produced wire rod is used as raw material in cold drawing special steel production, cold drawing special steel prices have fallen further during the past week due to the downward movement of wire rod quotations. In the same period, cold drawing free cutting steel prices have remained stable despite weak demand due to the closure of the ArcellorMittal plant in Spain which has caused supply to decline in the global market.
Meanwhile, heat treatable steel inventories in the Turkish spot market have been relatively on the lower side compared to other special steel inventories. As a result, heat treatable steel quotations have remained unchanged over the past week. On the other hand, as global steel market has become quiet with the start of Ramadan on June 6, Turkish sellers have slightly reduced their carbon steel and spring steel quotations week on week due to the expectations of a decline in prices of both domestic and global billets which are the raw material for hot drawing special steel.
