Longs prices in Italy are in general continuing to fall. According to the new base reference prices issued on November 19 by the Brescia Chamber of Commerce price commission, most long product categories in Italy registered a drop in prices over the preceding two weeks, apart from rebar and mesh quality wire rod which remained at the same levels.
Drawing quality wire rod posted the worst performance in the fortnight up to November 19, losing €15/mt and so dropping to a range of €440-450/mt. Merchant bars dropped €10/mt and are now in a price range of €300-310/mt for 10-59 mm sizes and in a range of €330-340/mt for 60-150 mm sizes. Electro-welded mesh also saw a price drop of €10/mt over the two weeks in question, now in a range of €240-250/mt. Cold drawn bar, meanwhile, just dropped €5/mt to €365-375/mt.
Turning to Brescia's base reference prices for beams, 80-120 mm UPN prices declined by €10/mt over the two weeks, dropping to a range of €330-340/mt. Meanwhile, other beam categories - 80-220 mm IPN, 80-220 mm IPE and 100-180 mm HE - lost €10/mt off their lower level and €5/mt off their upper level, and are now ranging at €450-460/mt.
