As market sources have informed SteelOrbis, Italian rebar producers have managed to keep their prices unchanged in the range of €425-435/mt ($531-544/mt) ex-works for 12-28 mm diameters. Faced with little possibility of an increase in prices during the next year (also because of not particularly encouraging news from the global markets), Italian rebar producers are trying to keep inventories at low levels. According to market sources, it is precisely the limited stocks which allow producers to keep prices stable despite the lack of demand.
Meanwhile, no new rebar export offers have been heard from Italian producers. Although the price of scrap has decreased, Italian producers do not expect further significant reductions in scrap prices. Currently, no new rebar export offers are heard since Italian producers are already satisfied with the sales concluded for the month of December and are willing to wait a little before thinking of January shipments. The most recent transaction prices stood at €415-420/mt ($519-525/mt)FOB.
