In Italy, drawing quality wire rod offers are still at €530/mt ($694/mt) delivered to customer, while mesh quality wire rod prices are at €520/mt ($681/mt) delivered, unchanged compared to last week.

According to local market players, Italian steel producers are aiming to keep their wire rod offers unchanged, while at the same time pushing for a decrease in scrap prices.

Meanwhile, in the export market, unlike the situation as regards rebar, Algerian customers are showing some signs of interest in Italian wire rod. Nevertheless, there have been no concrete inquiries and no large orders have been reported. In this context, Italian wire rod export offers stand at around €500/mt ($655/mt) FOB.
