Italian domestic and export wire rod prices move sideways

Wire rod prices have remained stable in the last two weeks in the Italian domestic market, according to local market sources. Drawing quality wire rod prices are still at €480-500/mt ($628-654/mt) delivered to customer. The producers consulted by SteelOrbis report that current sales volumes are sufficient and - as usual in recent times - a lot of their attention is focused on the problem of payment collection.

Prices are largely unchanged in the export market as well, with Italian producers offering wire rod at €460/mt ($602/mt) FOB. Just as in the rebar market, the Italian wire rod market also suffers from the fact that Algerian customers are not so eager to buy. Nevertheless, there has been a slight increase in the volume of inquiries from Algeria amid the production stoppages implemented by major Italian producer Lucchini.
