Election causes uncertainty in Israeli rebar market

The long run-up to the general election in Israel, one of Turkey's most important target markets for its rebar exports, has caused uncertainty in the local Israeli rebar market.

Since the start of the year, rebar prices have registered increases in the Israeli domestic market, reaching the range of $740-750/mt delivered to customers and excluding 16 percent VAT. Rebar demand has been on a downward trend in Israel, while rebar prices in the Turkish domestic market have prevented Israeli rebar prices from moving up further. Rebar transactions from Turkey to Israel will likely increase if stability in the region improves.
