As reported one week ago, local rebar prices in Italy had decreased to such low levels that Italian producers were seeking to raise them at least to the range of €400-410/mt ex-works recorded in January.

This week, domestic producers' local prices have reached €400/mt ($420/mt) ex-works, and, according to sources, they should rise further thanks to the ongoing increases in the local scrap market. Nevertheless, demand in the Italian rebar market has remained extremely weak. Meanwhile, rebar exports to Algeria are still blocked as the market is waiting for the release of import licenses in this country.
