Diverse trends in local Turkish rebar market

According to market sources, rebar prices in the local Turkish spot market have indicated diverse trends since December 15. Market players in the Marmara region have attempted to increase their prices and test the market, encouraged by the increased volume of inquiries. Meanwhile, domestic steelmaker Kardemir has opened its domestic sales for rebar by increasing its prices to the level of TRY 1,017/mt ($335/mt) ex-works, excluding VAT, but this new price level is not expected to gain acceptance in the market. 
 
As of today, January 18, traders’ rebar offers in the Turkish domestic market are as follows:
