Demand fails to pick up in local Chinese CRC market

During the week ending April 9, the Chinese domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) market has moved on a stable trend, while transaction activity has remained poor, with demand not showing any improvement. Average CRC prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

Although HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market have indicated significant rises, local CRC prices have remained unchanged over the same period. Currently, traders in the CRC market are cautious and lack optimism since demand for CRC products has not shown any improvement and as prices in the spot market are lower than ex-works prices from steelmakers. It is thought that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
