During the week ending June 6, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have decreased, while transaction activity in the market has been at low levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, the steel futures market in China has declined, negatively affecting the semi-finished steel market. While inventories of most semi-finished steel products are at relatively low levels, booking activity by downstream users is not performing so well. As for the coming period, demand will be slacker when the weather becomes hot, which will exert a negative impact on the semi-finished steel market. It is thought that semi-finished steel prices in the Chinese market will move on a soft trend in the coming week.
