Since the beginning of the current week, there has been no change in the local Turkish market in terms of demand and sales volumes, with demand still slow as market players maintain their cautious stance and still try to play it safe. Market sources are keeping a close eye on the upward trend in scrap prices, while they state that there has not yet been any development that has impacted on the rebar spot market in terms of demand or prices. Market sources are not sure whether the higher prices recorded in a scrap deal this week will continue to be seen in the coming period, and so they are maintaining a cautious stance until the market trend becomes clearer.
Meanwhile, currently producers' prices in the local Turkish market are in the range of TRY 1,085-1,110/mt ($436-446/mt) ex-works, while it is known that Turkish producers want to test the market with higher prices.
