SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers' price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

489-495

Thrace

483-489

Izmir

479-489

Iskenderun

475-485

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, wire rod prices in the local Turkish market are currently at $475-495/mt ex-works, increasing by $9-10/mt week on week. Following the sudden strengthening of the US dollar against the Turkish lira after the June 7 general election in Turkey, Turkish steel producers have revised their wire rod offers upwards. However, demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has slowed significantly. Market sources state that buyers are extremely cautious about making new wire rod bookings and they prefer to postpone their purchases until the market outlook becomes clearer.
