Brazilian wire rod exports increase in volume and price

Exports of wire rod by Brazilian producers fetched 13,500 mt in April, 3.8 percent more than in March, at an average FOB price 4.6 percent higher, $604/mt, according to Brazil’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.

The average price points to the drawing grade product exported at $643/mt FOB, while the mesh grade product was exported at $492/mt FOB.

The main destinations were the US (up 125 percent to 7,600 mt at $606/mt FOB) and Latin America (down 49 percent to 3,700 mt at $506/mt FOB), while 1,700mt of a special grade were shipped to Canada by ArcelorMittal at $805/mt FOB.

According to a major producer, in the domestic market the drawing grade product is sold at BRL3,511/mt ($1,170/mt), while the mesh grade product is sold at BRL3,356/mt ($1,118/mt), CFR, full taxes conditions, same price in BRL since a 12 percent increase from April 1.
