Brazil exported 16,600 mt of wire rod in April, 12 percent more than in March, at an average FOB price 13 percent lower, $394/mt, according to the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.

Exports were almost entirely of the mesh grade product and were shipped chiefly to Latin America (11,600 mt) and the EU (3,900 mt), with price deals probably closed in February.

A source from a major producer told SteelOrbis that his most recent export deals of the mesh grade product were closed at $485/mt, FOB conditions.

He added that an 8 percent increase will be applied in June for the price of all its long products in the export and domestic markets.
