The price of rebar for export from Brazil remains the same since a 12 percent increase in early December, a local exporter told SteelOrbis, quoting $520/mt, FOB conditions, as the reference for the CA-50 grade, 10mm thickness product.

In December, Gerdau exported 49,000 mt of rebar at $429/mt, while the Votorantim group exported 1,900 mt of the product at $519/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in October.

The main destinations for Brazilian rebar in December were Latin America (48,900 mt) and the Caribbean (2,000 mt).

A source from Aco Cearense, a longs producer in the north of the country, informed that they have no immediate perspective for the export of rebar or wire rod, as the whole production is earmarked to the domestic market.
