During the past two weeks, trading activity in the European flat steel market has slowed down and is now slack, though prices have moved upwards in line with the uptrend of steel prices in the global market. Demand for flat steel in Europe is expected to remain weak until the end of August when the holiday season ends.

Hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Europe have increased by €10/mt on average to €480-530/mt ($566-625/mt), cold rolled coil (CRC) have risen by €10/mt to €570-610/mt ($673-720/mt) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have moved up by €10/mt to €590-640/mt ($696-755/mt), all ex-works and compared to two weeks ago.
