US import HDG market “mostly quiet” after trade case petition

There hasn’t been a lot of action within the US import hot dipped galvanized and Galvalume coil markets since our last report a week ago, as the major offshore producers of coated steel imports to the US were named in the early-June trade case petition.

Sources close to SteelOrbis have said that Brazil has been aggressive in their offer prices for heavy-gauge HDG coil but they have not really stepped into light-gauge offers. They also continue to actively pursue US orders for Galvalume coil.  It is also believe that is just a matter of time before other countries begin offering coated steel products into the US, and that offer prices for 0.012”x40.875” G30 and 0.019” x48” G90 coil will mimic previously seen prices out of India.
