The most commonly reported spot price transaction ranges for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil have corrected by an additional $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) according to SteelOrbis sources, with the most commonly reported spot price transaction range for base-price HDG coil now trending in the approximate range of $24-$25 cwt. ($529-$551/mt or $480-$500/nt) ex-Midwest mill, but transactions toward the top end of that range are becoming fewer and farther between. “If push came to shove, the domestic mills would be willing to cut deals below the average price,” said one Texas-based source.
Buyers, however, are wary of booking anything more than they absolutely need over concern that prices will continue to soften.
