Prices within the US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume markets have firmed for the second week in a row, which is making lesser-priced offshore offers from India and China begin to look more and more attractive. In addition, trader sources have said that some second tier mills are offering deals on the lower end of the price range, which has led to the widening of the span of the most commonly reported transaction range.
Rumblings of a potential trade case are continuing to permeate the market, according to sources, with some speculating the file date could come right around the start of the third quarter. But for now, those who are booking offshore HDG and Galvalume say it’s business as usual.
