The most commonly reported spot market price transaction range for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil continues to hold at mostly sideways, although some sources close to SteelOrbis have reported being able to get deals slightly below the average ranges on larger-sized buys.
As with last week, the most commonly heard transaction range for base-price HDG coil remains at $40.50-$41.50 cwt. ($893-$915/mt or $810-$830/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
Multiple sources have reported that rumblings of a post-Labor Day price increase is in the works, but few, if any, believe that a price increase announcement will push the market back up. “If anything it will be more about setting a pricing floor,” a Midwest-based source said.
