Little has changed within the US hot dipped galvanized (HDG) market since our last report a week ago, as many within the US have started to wind down in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday. “It’s just going to be a slow week that’s not going to have a lot of activity,” according to one East Coast-based source. “People have either already started their vacations or they’re in the office but not doing all that much.”
That being said, the most commonly reported spot price range for base-price HDG has maintained its sideways trend, still at $35.50-$37.50 cwt. ($783-$827/mt or $710-$750/nt) ex-Midwest mill, although as with last week, mills are willing to negotiate deals on coating extras.
