The most commonly reported spot price transaction range for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil continue to remain steady, with prices for US domestic HDG still trending in the approximate range of $41-$42 cwt. ($904-$926/mt or $820-$840/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
Sources close to SteelOrbis continue to report that HDG coil continues to be the strongest trending product within the US domestic flat rolled steel market, with current ex-mill lead times still trending at approximately six to eight weeks.
“Prices are still holding despite the summer slowdown,” one source said. “But at the same time, last year’s price run-down is still pretty fresh in everyone’s minds and no one wants to do any restocking at these levels. A lot of people are a bit reluctant to build inventory.”
