Market conditions for both US domestic and import cold rolled coil (CRC) have held steady for the second week in a row, with the most commonly reported domestic spot price range still at approximately $35.70-$39.00 cwt. ($827-$860/mt or $750-$780/nt) ex-Midwest mill. Although a recent report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) indicates year-to-date total steel imports have increased roughly 32 percent from levels seen this time last year, CRC imports from China and India have actually seemed to drop. According to Steel Monitoring Import and Analysis (SIMA) data, as of June 24, US CRC import tonnages from China and India came in at 16.4 mt (license data) and 129.8 mt (license data), respectively, whereas June 2013 import tonnages from China and India tallied 90.2 mt (census data) and 218.5 mt (census data), respectively.
