In the Turkish domestic steel plate market, where demand has remained stagnant for a long time, some import plate offers have increased amid price hikes in hot rolled coil (RC) prices. Accordingly, Ukrainian origin plate offers to Turkey have moved up by $5-10/mt as compared to the previous price levels, while Macedonian steel mill Makstil has decreased its offers by $30/mt citing low demand.

Market sources state that there first needs to be some movement in the heavy industry sector before a real revival in demand can be talked about.

Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukrainian steel producer Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works are now standing at $565-570/mt CFR for January production, while another Ukrainian mill Ilyich Iron & Steel Works is offering plate to Turkey at the base price level of $560-570/mt CFR. In addition, Macedonian mill Makstil's offers are now standing at $700-710/mt CFR. The last two prices are for December output.
