With Turkish mills having increased their hot rolled coil (HRC) prices for the domestic market before the Feast of Sacrifice holiday (Aug. 31-Sept. 4), demand in the local Turkish HRC market is still weak since buyers, who have started to make inquiries after the holiday, consider the current prices levels to be on the high side and are waiting for discounts. However, market sources state that Turkish mills are getting ready for another price revision in which they will increase their prices further to $600-620/mt ex-works, supported by the uptrend of flat steel prices in the global market. For now, prices in the local Turkish HRC market are still at $580-600/mt ex-works, remaining unchanged as compared to the price range before the holiday.
On the other hand, spot HRC prices in Turkey have also remained unchanged during the same period, while buyers have continued to make inquiries but have preferred to just monitor the market before concluding fresh deals.
