China's domestic
stainless steel market has mostly seen decreases in prices during the past seven days, though some prices have also moved sideways.
Global nickel prices have followed a downward trend during the past week, falling to their lowest levels in six years. On March 31, the three-month nickel price at the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed at $12,395/mt, while LME nickel inventory on the same date totaled 433,806 mt.
The softening of nickel prices has contributed to the decreases seen in the Chinese domestic
stainless steel market in the past week, while overall trading activity in the market is still on the sluggish side as traders wait for
stainless steel prices to catch up with the decreases seen in nickel prices. The Chinese government recently introduced measures intended to boost the real estate sector, and these may have a positive impact on the steel market in the future. As for the coming week, it is believed that some slight downward fluctuations may be seen in the domestic
stainless steel market.
