Traders remain cautious in Chinese domestic HDG market

During the week ending January 15, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have continued their downward trend, while transaction activity is still at poor levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, most traders have decreased their HDG prices as lower-cost supplies from northern China circulated into the southern market. At the same time, some traders with relatively low inventory levels and sufficient funds have kept their prices stable. Before the Spring Festival, the local Chinese HDG market is unlikely to see a significant improvement in demand and traders are mostly cautious on the future prospects for the market. It is expected that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will remain on a soft trend in the coming week.
