During the week ending April 25, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued their rising trend. Transaction activity in the overall market has been at good levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the tables below.
During the given week, finished steel futures prices in China have indicated a rising trend, providing support for steel plate prices in the domestic spot market. Meanwhile, relatively low steel plate inventories and increased semi-finished steel prices have also exerted a positive impact on steel plate prices. However, supplies from steel plate producers in northern China have started to increase, while supplies arriving in the domestic market are expected to increase further after the Labor Day holiday (April 30-May 2) holiday. It is thought that domestic steel plate prices will likely indicate a correction in the coming week following the significant increases already seen in the market.
